A Message to the World Community

A Message to the World Community

From Bhikkhu Sugatha – Director, Vimansa Meditation and Retreat Centre

My name is Bhikkhu Sugatha. I have dedicated my life to walking the path of the Dhamma — not only through personal practice, but through compassionate service to others. My journey as a monk has taken me from quiet village temples in Sri Lanka to meditation centers and communities around the world, where I have met seekers from many different cultures, all searching for the same thing: peace, clarity, and connection.

My Journey as a Monk

Ordained in the Theravāda tradition, my early years were deeply rooted in learning the teachings of the Buddha and practicing Vipassana meditation. Over time, my path expanded beyond the temple walls. I was invited to share the Dhamma in Europe, Asia, and beyond, where I led retreats, offered counseling, and spoke with people of many backgrounds — monks, nuns, teachers, and laypeople — all facing the struggles of modern life with deep questions in their hearts.

These experiences have taught me that spiritual understanding is not tied to any one religion, culture, or nationality. The Dhamma, when offered with compassion and wisdom, can support all beings.

Why I Started Vimansa

Vimansa Meditation and Retreat Centre was founded out of a heartfelt need — to create a peaceful space for both locals and international visitors, where meditation, healing, and inner growth are made accessible without religious pressure or dogma.

Here, we welcome all people who are willing to explore themselves — through meditation, silence, dialogue, and reflection. Our aim is to nurture the balance of body and mind, and to guide people toward clarity, self-understanding, and peace.

My Vision for the World Community

The world today is loud, divided, and full of suffering. Yet within every person is a deep potential for peace. My vision is to build bridges between cultures through the language of compassion and mindfulness.

Through Dhamma service, retreats, and community outreach, I hope to create a global family that supports each other in healing and awakening — beyond race, religion, or ideology.

A Personal Message to You

To all my friends across the world — those I’ve met in person and those reading this now — I invite you to walk with me on this path of peaceful service.

Let us build a world community that listens deeply, acts kindly, and lives simply. Let us remember the quiet strength found in mindfulness, and the joy that comes from giving, not taking.

Wherever you are on your journey, know that you are welcome here.

With Metta,
Bhikkhu Sugatha
